solutions.hamburg // Hamburg, September 7–9

Since solutions.hamburg is all about realizing digitalization projects – prioritizing “the doing” rather than just “the planning” – it is the perfect place for *um Data ScientisDr. Christian Nietner to give his talk about Data Thinking. He will use the Data Leadership Process Model (*umDLPM) to explain how companies can successfully implement their digital development plans. Our sales manager Naimah Schuetter will also be available to talk to clients and enthusiasts.

 

SAP Real Estate Forum // Berlin, September 12–13

This year’s SAP Forum for the Real Estate Industry kicks off on September 12, focusing on processes to develop digitally into the future. The next day, Dr. Christian Nietner will give his presentation “Digital Transformation of the Real Estate Industry” to vividly explain how Big Data, AI and new ways of thinking are revolutionizing current and future business practices. He also very recently wrote an article on the same topic for the Handelsblatt, which you can check out here (available in German).

 

FlinkForward // Berlin, September 12–14

The second FlinkForward conference brings together Apache Flink developers and users to address the requirements of and the possibilities for the distributed streaming platform, which is able to process data in record time. *um Data Architect, Hadoop evangelist and Flink expert Stefan Papp will be attending the event and is looking forward to meeting clients, data engineers and enthusiasts.

 

HPE webinar “Data Lakes” feat. *um // September 15

*um Chief Data Scientist and Data Thinker Klaas Bollhoefer recently held a webinar on Data Thinking. Now fellow *um employees Naimah Schuetter and Harald Brueckner are joining a webinar with our partner EMC to present our Hadoop services. They will also be explaining why companies must prioritize using Data Lakes for their Big Data strategies, and how *um can support them in modernizing their Big Data infrastructure.

Bitkom Big Data Summit // Berlin, September 27

Companies are developing Big Data roadmaps, improving competences in the fields of Data Science and Data Engineering, and implementing pilot projects. But what does Big Data mean for cities of the future? This is a key question addressed at the Big Data Summit, hosted in Berlin by the industry association Bitkom. Our Senior Data Scientist Florian Dohmann will be providing an answer with his presentation “Data Thinking meets Smart City”.

 

Being Digital – CI Transformation Journey @ Bosch // Berlin (St. Oberholz), September 28

“Join us on a digital journey around the world” – this the slogan of Bosch’s event series for IT managers. *um’s contribution to the tour is a presentation by Florian Dohmann for the Bosch team. He will address the trends and topics concerning data science, AI, Deep Learning and so on, and link these to the Industrial Internet and the Internet of Things. The subsequent discussion forum will no doubt spark an animated exchange of ideas and opinions.

 

HPE Reimagine 2016 // Stuttgart, September 28

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hosting the pioneering in-house trade fair Reimagine 2016. Under the slogan “Accelerating next”, the event focuses on how ideas lead to accelerating business success, and how IT can contribute. Among the illustrious speakers is *um Data Scientist Dr. Christian Nietner, who will explain Data Thinking – the “recipe for success” – by referring to real-life examples.

 

TEDxMuenster // Muenster, September 30

We have contributed “ideas worth spreading” in the beautiful Westphalian metropolis on two previous occasions, and this year we are making it three: *um Senior Data Scientist andigital artist Florian Dohmann will be combining art and science in his talk at TEDxMünster. He has initiated an art project together with the painter Roman Lipski and will be addressing the question of whether artificial intelligence can create art and if so, how. You can already read features about the project on ARTE and in our blog.
