DATA ENGINEERING
‘In our team, we not only design and build global big data infrastructures; we also take care of the management and monitoring of the data and data sources.
On top of this, we ensure that all systems are stable and secure. Our job is challenging, complex, and fascinating.’

Data: Lakes, pipelines, applications
More and more companies are joining the ranks of those who store their data – such as that generated by production, for example – in enormous data lakes – even if they don’t always know what the data will ultimately be used for. Early adopters of this approach know that when unstructured data from machines and ERP and service systems is aggregated, it can lay the foundations for new use cases and new business models. Data pipelines ensure that data is securely and smoothly transferred to the exact location where it is required. *um builds, develops, and manages data lakes. This data storage solution can be scaled almost limitlessly in terms of volume and performance, enabling customers to store, process, display, and visualize their data exactly as they wish.
We take care of quality assurance, security concepts, testing, and implementation. We also manage the rollout of data products and services and provide tailored software application programming in line with customer requirements. We organize our processes using best-practice software development frameworks and methods such as scrum, Kanban and ITIL. Each of our teams has designated members covering all of the required roles, with representation across all departments. Based on the principles of DevOps, each team works across the entire project lifecycle, from the pre-sales transition through to ongoing operation.

Architecture
& DevOps
Following an initial consultation, we manage the construction, implementation, and operation of data lakes to store, process, and roll out data for NoSQL technologies such as Hadoop and Cassandra. Working in close partnership with our data science team, our data engineers build data infrastructures and develop these infrastructures in interdisciplinary DevOps teams.
As pioneers in the field of big data, we have proven our expertise in hundreds of projects. Our data engineers not only possess wide-ranging technical knowledge, but also have extensive experience with all relevant internet and data technologies. We support our customers throughout their journey, from the initial idea through to operation in highly secure environments, including TÜV-certified environments in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001:2013 for data center services and in line with the current PCI-DSS standard from usd AG.
Vendor-agnostic
We are vendor-agnostic, which means that we can offer our customers the best tailored solutions to meet their unique needs. We compile solutions independently of providers, incorporating everything from hardware and software through to the data center – whether it’s a solution from a public cloud supplier such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or a dedicated server from HPE or DellEMC that we operate in our customer’s data centers, or in storage space provided by e-shelter or Equinix.
As a direct result of our independent approach, our services bring together the benefits of different solutions – enabling customers to enjoy the scalability and automation of cloud computing as well as the performance of traditional hosting. We can integrate legacy systems to ensure high-performance connectivity between the clouds.
